PROJECT INFORMATION
Vanessa’s Guillen’s tragic death left an indelible mark on the military and society at large, prompting a renewed commitment to address the pervasive issue of sexual harassment and assault within the armed forces. Her memory lives on as a symbol of resilience, inspiring ongoing efforts to create a safer and more inclusive environment for all those who serve their country. In April 2020, Vanessa Guillen went missing from the base, sparking an extensive search operation and nationwide attention. It was revealed that she had been a victim of sexual harassment, with claims of a superior officer’s inappropriate behavior towards her. As the investigation unfolded, it became apparent that Vanessa had confided in her family and friends about the harassment but had not formally reported it due to fear of retaliation. We worked with ABC 20/20, People Magazine, LULAC and Netfilx to share Vanessa’s story with the word. The Documentary film came out in 2023 and placed 3rd in the top ten in the US on Netflix.
